Light of Wisdom
This painting is a tribute to the festive South Indian mandala called Kōlam.
InTamil Nadu, India, elaborate rice paste mandalas grace the floor of wedding and festive halls. Women create mandala patterns on the floor by dipping a small piece of cloth into a bowl of wet rice paste while the white flour pours through the tips of their three (thumb, index, and middle) fingers. It is a symbol that embodies beauty, wellness, and hospitality.
The words Sukham, Aarogyam, and Priya in Sanskrit mean Happy, Healthy, and Loved.
