The painting 'Kismat' - Fortune represents kolam motif drawn with loops and curves joining a series of dots typically called 'pulli kolam' in tamil dialect.
Kolam art was originated in the state of Tamil Nadu located in the Southern region of India. These are highly symmetrical designs built using geometric shapes that are drawn on the floor by squeezing a piece of cloth dipped in rice paste or with white chalk/ chalk powder.
Kolams are viewed as a sign of invitation to welcome people into the home; a tribute to harmonious co-existence; and thought to bring prosperity.
