Mandala & Meditation

Darshan: Sold

'Darshan' meaning Vision or the Way of Seeing

  • It's quite possible to focus and control your mind when you find a peaceful spot to meditate. The mandala in the landscape is a representation of kolam and rangoli art.

Kolam art was originated in the state of Tamil Nadu located in the Southern region of India. Rangoli art was originated in the state of Nepal located in South Central Asia between India and China. Therefore, Rangoli art can be seen predominantly in the Eastern & Northern regions of India.

Kolams are highly symmetrical designs built using geometric shapes that are drawn on the floor by squeezing a piece of cloth dipped in rice paste or with white chalk/ chalk powder. Rangolis are drawn on the floor with colored sand, dyes, rice, and/or flowers.

These two art forms are viewed as a sign of invitation to welcome people into the home; a tribute to harmonious co-existence; and thought to bring prosperity.
